Biography

 

Building layers of paint with pure pigments, fabrics, binding agents or flowers, Carolyn DiGiovanni creates engaging timeless compositions on panels of wood, painting textures and shapes representing her life in ways everyone can relate too. A self-taught artist, Carolyn was raised in N.J. and started painting in the ninth grade. The therapeutic nature of painting helped her through those formative years.

Experimentations with watercolors and different types of papers such as elephant paper were the perfect stepping-stones into acrylics with fabrics for Carolyn. Today you can see and feel the energy in her paintings like looking out the window of a moving car traveling through the countryside at 80 miles per hour.

Driven by her passion for feeling free and the desire to make herself and those around her happy, Carolyn spontaneously moves through her studio painting multiple panels at a time, generating many series of paintings that are shown in fine art galleries, juried shows, private collections, as well as corporate collectors across the United States. Carolyn DiGiovanni is a prolific challenging painter who works out of a 3000 sq foot studio and is always ready to welcome a guest.
